Andrew Farrell, a fighter and head coach from the Farrell MMA camp, has been wearing the Hayabusa Hybrid MMA Sparring gloves over the last month. Below is Andy’s review.

Construction: 9/10
I have been wearing the Hayabusa Hybrid gloves for a while now and I have to say that they are an impressive piece of kit. Extremely well put together and they stood up to quite a battering over the weeks.

Comfort: 9/10
The dual closure and shape of the gloves mean that the fit is fantastic. Whether striking or grappling the glove stays in place and is very comfortable to roll in.

Performance: 9/10
I don’t have a bad word to say about the performance of the Hayabusa Hybrid glove. Yes they are a little more expensive than some of the other gloves on the market but they do their job perfectly. The padding isn’t too bulky and there is plenty of flexibility within the glove meaning that grappling isn’t a problem. The level of knuckle protection and wrist support is another huge plus for these gloves.

Design: 9/10
Hayabusa don’t tend to be too in your face and the Hybrid gloves are no exception. Nice detailing but not too brash.

Overall: 36/40
For many of the scores I could quite easily have given a 10 but perfection is very rare. These are a very good sparring glove and I would highly recommend them to anyone training in MMA. Yes there are cheaper gloves on the market but the Hayabusa Hybrid is worth a little extra money.

Andy Farrell has been wearing the ADX Vengence rashguard over the last month, below is Andy’s review. Karl Amos of Farrell MMA is pictured training in the rashguard.

The ADX Vengence rashguards are available in both long sleeve (black) and short sleeve (white).

Construction: 9/10
Just like the ADX shorts this is a well put together piece of kit. Rashguards are always going to take quite a beating and the ADX Vengence more than copes with this. You can tell that there has been a lot of thought put into ADX products both in the function and the design.

Comfort: 9/10
This rashguard hugs your figure perfectly but at the same time doesn’t feel too tight or restrictive. Not much more needs to be said as that is all you want from a good rashguard.

Performance: 9/10
The combination of the lycra blend and the moisture wicking technology means that you get a well fitted rashguard that also helps to get sweat away from the skin. In comparison to other rashguards I have worn I would say the ADX Vengence performs extremely well. I particularly like the long sleeved version.

Design: 8/10
Again I prefer the long sleeved version as I feel that black is a more suitable colour for a rashguard. Although the white does look good it can soon get dirty when rolling. The grey panels on the black are a good addition and help to give it a more unique look.

Overall: 35/40
A good rashguard that looks the part and functions very well. As I have said a couple of times I prefer the long sleeved version in black but that is just my personal choice.

Karl Amos of Farrell MMA has been wearing the Demon Heavy Duty shorts over the last month, below is Karl’s review.

The Demon Heavy Duty Shorts range are available in red , white and black.

Construction: 8/10
As a new brand Demon have obviously done their home work. The stitching, quality of materials and fastening are all of a very good standard. These shorts are made from a heavier material than I am used to but there is still flexibility in the fabric.

Comfort: 8/10
The fastening around the waist is very good. As stated before they are a little heavier than microfibre shorts but that is intentional and doesn’t result in a loss of comfort. The slit on the leg and flex panels make them an easy short to wear for MMA.

Performance: 8/10
The inclusion of the slit on the outer leg and the flexible panels on the inner thighs mean that these shorts function very well. The heavy duty nature of the materials mean that they are perfect for training, they can certainly take a beating.

Design: 8/10
I’m a big fan of how these shorts look. Quite simple but at the same time nice and bold. The Demon logo looks great against the plain background colour. The red and black are my personal favourites.

Overall: 32/40
A great pair of shorts for training and really good value too. I am more than happy to recommend them. If Demon keep up this level of gear they will do very well.

Paul Birkhead has been wearing the Venum Red Spider shorts over the last month, below is Paul’s review. Paul has been training in MMA for the last 4 years and has fought at semi-pro and amateur level.

The Venum Spider range are available in both blue and red.

Construction: 9/10
All Venum shorts are well made and the Spider range are no different. They are hard wearing and very durable. The fastening is well put together without being too bulky. So far so good with these after a hard month of training and washing they still look great.

Comfort: 8/10
Though not as comfortable as the ADX shorts the Spiders are still very easy to move around in. They definitely benefit from the inclusion of a slit on the outer thigh. The drawstring and fastening are covered well and basically one you are fastened up you can forget about them.

Performance: 8/10
Nice lightweight construction combined with a well fitted short and a slit on the outside leg means that the Venum Red Spiders perform very well. There is no restriction of movement when grappling or on the feet and they stay firmly in place around the waist.

Design: 9/10
The design is very bold and also quite unique. The spider web detail looks fantastic and certainly stands out from other shorts on the market. They won’t be to everyone’s taste but I think they look great.

Overall: 34/40
Venum products are well made, well designed and always suited to MMA training and fighting. They are made for fighters and because of this you feel comfortable when rolling in them. To sum up I think the Red Spider are a great looking short that function extremely well.

Matthew Earnshaw, a fighter from the Farrell MMA camp who will soon be competing in his first Pro fight after 4 years of training and fighting, has been wearing the Sandee MMA Sparring gloves over the last month. Below is Matthew’s review.

Construction: 9/10
I have had Sandee gloves in a number of different varieties and I have always been impressed with the quality and durability. The MMA Sparring gloves are no different. The leather is of very good quality and even after a months worth of training 3-4 times a week the gloves are showing no sign of wear and tear.

Comfort: 9/10
I found these gloves to fit perfectly. When grappling or striking there was no movement at all. There was plenty of flexibility so my grip wasn’t impeded and the wrist support and fastening was also very good.

Performance: 8/10
A lot of the sparring gloves on the market are far too bulky and as a result you lose some flexibility. I also find that the extra bulk can make pulling your hand out of tight holds quite difficult. Thankfully the Sandee gloves don’t suffer from either of these problems. There is a good level of shock protection and padding but it is spread across the hand without losing flexibility.

Design: 6/10
There isn’t much to say about the design of the gloves. They are basically plain black with the Sandee logo on. They are basically a no-nonsense sparring glove.

Overall: 32/40
To sum up the Sandee MMA Sparring gloves I would say the performance, comfort and quality are what counts. They may not look to flashy but if its function and not style you are after (and it should be) then they are a great buy and good value.
